Hi Tweets

I'm posting this from my volunteer desk at Seattle Audubon.? We'd love to get more folks signed for this class next week and thought some of you might be interested (if only with hopes for black-backed woodpeckers!)

?The Impact of Wildfires on Washington Forests

with James K. Agee, Professor Emeritus of Forest Ecology at the UW, member of The Nature Conservancy Leadership Council and author of Fire Ecology of Pacific Northwest Forests.

Wildfires are the most significant natural disturbances in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Join Dr. Agee?s class to learn about wildfires and their consequences for WA wildlife: In the moist forest types, across much of the Western Cascades, as well as the drier forest types, mostly in the Eastern Cascades. In this class Dr. Agee will summarize these historical roles of fire and their effects on birds, and contrast them with today?s changing fire regimes across the region.
