From 1-8 p.m. Friday, a friend and I slowly made our way from Wylie
Slough Trail to the Rawlins Road dike, spending most of our time and
energy exploring sights from the delightful trail (starts near the
boat launch).

Bird Highlights for the day:

Mann Road and Wylie Slough areas:

Bald Eagle
Northern Harrier
Great Blue Heron
Ruddy Duck
Savannah Sparrow
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Kildeer
Swainson's Thrush
Greater Yellowlegs
Dunlin
Least Sandpiper
Lesser Yellowlegs
American Bittern (heard)
Great Horned Owl
Red-tailed Hawk (oodles)
Barn Swallow
Rough-winged Swallow
White-crowned Sparrow
Golden-crowned Sparrow
Green-winged Teal
Downy Woodpecker
Rufous Hummingbird

from Rawlins Road Dike:

Snow Goose (100)
Sandhill Crane (a pair flying together)

This splendid day was only marred by hearing that the Wiley Slough is
soon to be destroyed. Does anyone know when the bulldozing will
begin? I hope it is after nesting season is well over...
