Apologies for the late report, but on the 24th just before 10:00 AM I saw
Juanita Bay Park's first Chipping Sparrow along 'Fire station Rd'. Here's a

I've been keeping an ear on the Red Crossbills (RECR) that are passing
through the park with some regularity lately. I've recorded two call types,
4 and 3, which are on the smaller end of the size spectrum of North
America's RECR call types. In WA, types 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 have been
documented. Three of those (2, 5, 7) occur in eastern WA, while types 1 and
3 are on the west side. Type 4 is present statewide. A nice article
