Hi Tweets,

Yesterday afternoon we saw two bonaparte's gulls in breeding plumage
(black hood, all black bill) on a sandbar in McAllister Creek at the
Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, about 2/3 of the way north along the
dike trail. We got back to the visitor center too late to report them
(they weren't in the log book when we set out, but perhaps someone else
reported them?)

Since the trail closes for good in a few days, it was crammed with
regulars saying goodbye and first-timers finally getting around to
walking it before it closes, but the birds were plentiful and the
atmosphere rather festive. We saw 42 species plus a mink.
