Hi, Tweeters,

Bill and I spent some time at the Fill about midday today. We
went looking for birds in the tree line in the southeast corner of the CUH.
This is the area where people have seen a Hermit Thrush. We did not find
the thrush, but did locate several Purple Finches. They also seem to like
the berries in the English Ivy. We heard one of the Purple Finches sing, so
we're pretty sure of our identification. Also heard and saw an
Orange-crowned Warbler in the same area. One Western Kingbird was still
hawking north of Wahkiakum Lane over a pretty wide area. Finally, just as
we were preparing to leave from the CUH parking lot, I saw a Northern
Harrier flying away over the trees of the former Battelle Institute (sorry,
I can't remember it's current name!). The weather started cool and just got
nicer and nicer.

Good birding, Charlotte Byers, Seattle
