Interesting behavior this morning...I (fortunately/unfortunately?) have some Stellar's jays nesting in a hemlock...I think a pair of towhees are in neighboring yard and come in early and have breakfast. After a quick bite, both male and female flew up a couple of separate times to the site of the jays nest and looked on. Was this territorial? They didn't act aggressively or do any vocalizing. Was stunned at this behavior. Would love any info on towhees nesting behavior...how can I get them to nest in my yard? I have a white pine...I never see them collecting any needles.

Also, had a yellow rumped warbler (I think). Yellow cap, splotch...black/white wingbars...

The nuthatch appears to be nesting in the same cavity as last year. Would this be the same bird or offspring? Not sure if the flickers are in the "snag condo"...if so, they are sneaky.

Oh, we also have a pair of chickadees nesting in a box (given from my mom for a wren box...enjoying the view from heaven?)...Also believe to have a bewicks wren pair in dovecote...

??? I do see brown creepers...what is their territory and nesting range? I have several firs that would be ideal for nesting in their bark. Anything I can do to invite them/encourage nesting?
