Hi, The only place I have ever had trouble with spotting scopes was going through Wichita, Ks. Even Israel lets them pass easily. I do carry them on. Last time I flew to Ks, I packed my large and heavy (great for Ks winds) tripod into my checked baggage, only to discover a professional photographer boarding the same plane as I, carried his over his shoulder and it seems to work for him that way, just a bit of fuss, here and there from what he said. I am thinking this is even better, but am wondering if anyone has been given a hard time with this. This fellow had quite a bit of stuff, and his tripod exceeded the 2 carry on limit, easily.
