Greetings All,
Lots of activity around the South Sound in the past week. I have tallied up some of the recent arrivals and also a brief report for a fruitful trip around Nisqually Refuge on Tuesday morning 4/28. Local FOY sightings include: Osprey (4/25); Pacific Slope Flycatcher (4/26); Yellow Warbler (4/17); Vaux?s Swift (4/25); Wilson?s Warbler (4/26). Yet another Eurasian Collared Dove showed up at our place on 4/25 (at least the 4th this spring for Thurston).

>From Nisqually Refuge on 4/28 there were good numbers of species despite rain throughout my visit. Most interesting were: NASHVILLE WARBLER (outer dike), Short-billed Dowitcher (4 at outer dike; note also 10 Long-bills near Twin Barns); Solitary Sandpiper and Lesser Yellowlegs (continuing near HQ); 7 Lincolns Sparrows; Merlin, Peregrine; Blue-winged Tear (FOY). There were many Brant (est. 300) along the sound, a lone Snow Goose, and 30 White-fronted Geese (continuing) to provide a total of 5 goose species for the morning. 10 species of shorebirds were noted along with 6 species of warblers.

Cheers and good birding
Bill Shelmerdine
