Tweeters,
While leading a tour a week ago on the Olympic Peninsula, we bumped into Red Crossbills at many locations and elevations, including just about every stop along the road up to Hurricane Ridge. I've also been encountering small flocks along upper Scatter Ck. and elsewhere in Thurston County over the past couple weeks. I'm just curious if others are finding crossbills and how widespread the pattern is in western Washington. At least locally, I'm seeing lots of Douglas-fir cones.
Good birding, Bob
