All,

I was at Theler Wetlands in Belfair Saturday from 8:00 to to 10:30.
What a difference a week makes -- last week was warm with blue skies and
lots of sunshine. Today it was cold, cloudy and several times I wished
for something warmer than a long-sleeved shirt.

The main attraction today was a lone Whimbrel feeding on the mudflats.
I thank a passing birder for the ID. I also spent some time watching an
immature Pied-billed Grebe try to join a flock of Mallards. It would
try to join the flock, be driven off and then try again.

In addition to the above there were the usual Kingfishers, GBH, a
Northern Harrier and some Peeps. The birder I met on the trail told me
he was amazed to see some Red Crossbills in a conifir.

The light was terrible and the birds were too far away, but I've posted
some shots of the Whimbrel and the Pied-billed Grebe:
