In case anyone else was wondering the gate at Sunrise on Mt. Rainier doesn't really close, at least not until Sunrise closes for the season in October.

Makes sense, with the overnighters on the other side of the gate you can't lock them all in.

My trip to Sunrise Saturday evening was wonderful. Not a lot of people due to the overcast weather down below but the Mountain was in almost full view multiple times as the clouds past through and we got lots of looks at a large flock of Mountain Bluebirds and some nice elk and marmot sitings to boot.
