Hi Tweets,

See below for the results from the 2008-2009 Puget Sound Seabird Survey
season. Our third season will kick off this October and we are looking
for volunteers in Thurston and Snohomish counties! Only a couple hours
a month will make a valuable contribution to our understanding of
"seabird" populations (waterfowl, loons, grebes, cormorants, gulls and
alcids) in Puget Sound!

Are you a birdwatcher?

Can you give a couple hours a month this winter?
*
Want to make a valuable contribution to our understanding of the
seabird populations of Puget Sound?

In April of this year, Seattle Audubon completed the second season of
the Puget Sound Seabird Survey. The result: a success with over 50
volunteers counting waterbirds at 47 survey sites from Whidbey Island
south to Tolmie State Park in Thurston County. From October until April
a total of 52 species of "seabirds" (waterfowl, loons, grebes,
cormorants, gulls and alcids) were tallied during a combined 185 survey
hours over three square miles of nearshore saltwater habitat. Data was
submitted online and analyzed by our scientists. Read the full species
list and peruse an attractive array of graphs by clicking here:

And we want YOU to be a part of it! Surveys are synchronized to take
place during the same four-hour window on the first Saturday of every
month, October through April. Each survey is only 15-30 minutes per
site.
