The last time I was in Yellowstone, a ranger recommended "Birds of Yellowstone" by Terry McEneaney.? Unfortunately it was out of print so not available "on the spot."? When I returned home I found a copy online and bought it.? Haven't been back yet to put it to the test.

Mr. McEneaney says: 1.) The greatest diversity of birds is early June to mid-July and mid-August to mid-September; and 2.) The greatest number of birds is mid-July to early September.? The book includes Tables with monthly occurence and abundance charts and the best area(s) to find the specie and the chances of seeing the bird (excellent, moderate, difficult).
