Yesterday (08.16.09) I spent half a day on Table Mtn. The trail starts at Artist Point, NE of Mt Baker.
The White-tailed Ptarmigan I was looking for did not show. As usual, there was a consolation prize: a family of Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches. And a young Chipping Sparrow. Photos of these 2 species may be viewed at the link below. Also present were Red Crossbills and a single Clark's Nutcracker.
On Saturday, 08.15.09 I saw 3 Eurasian Collared-Doves perched on wires along Hwy 9 between Nelson and Strand Roads, south of Van Zandt. This is also Whatcom County.
