I didn't see these mythical birds myself, but Melissa Sherwood just called me to say she had a singing male, probably a pair, at noon today. The male was singing at the top of a spruce tree. This was at Snow Lake out of Alpental, SE corner. It's about a 4-mile hike in, 1400-foot gain. There were plenty of hikers about, but no one else with binoculars. This is on the north side of I-90.
