hello everyone,

Today's Mystery Bird -- a new fledgling photographed on Galveston's (Texas) East Beach -- is so mysterious that even the photographer doesn't know what it is, can you help him ID it?

The most recently demystified mystery bird is a Bhutan Laughing-Thrush, Garrulax imbricatum, a bird that was recently split from the Streaked Laughing-Thrush, Garrulax lineatus. of course, this classification may be revised again soon since the taxonomy of this entire group is a complete mess.

Incidentally, some people have mentioned that the big gap in the antarctic blogger votes between me and first place is insurmountable (for the record, i remain unconvinced). but what is not so obvious is that the top three or four (?) vote-getters are given an interview by Quark to ascertain how well they fit their requirements before the official blogger is selected. so even if i don't win the vote, i can still win the interview! so please don't let the vote differential discourage you from showing your support by voting for me as official antarctica blogger in these last few weeks;
