Hi Tweeters:

The Franklin's Gull was an easy find on the beach at about 9:40 this morning and we had great views in spite of the families and dog-walkers beginning to congregate.? Thanks to whomever found and posted it and to a friend who called to tell me he was in town.? ?I was in Arizona at the time and hoped he would hang around till I returned....the bird, that is.? Thanks, Dennis!

We moved on to?Juanita Park for the Red-naped Sapsucker and encountered John Tubbs?who was just leaving but took the time to point out the tree. ? The Red-naped Sapsucker finally showed up in?the usual?birch tree at about 11am and was still there when we left at about 11:30.? Thanks, John!?

SE Arizona was great with lots of new birds and an adventure or two.?Daytime temps were between 100 and 105 degrees and I was beginning to think the monsoons were mythical till my last day.? We were in the rugged and remote California Gulch chasing the?Five-striped Sparrow and Buff-collared Nightjar?when dark clouds rolled in and?the thunder and lightning started.? The Sparrow was spotted before the rains began but we had to wait for a break before locating the Nightjar and I had visions of the already eroded dirt roads completely washing out before we made it out.?

Good Birding,
