Tweets,
Saturday late morning I encountered a large mixed flock that, in addition to
two chickadee and vireo spp, included 5 warblers: Wilson's (10?), BTG (4),
Orange-cr (1), Yellow (1, a bit unexpected out in the woods), McG's (1
young). The Yellowthroats around made for a 6-warbler day. Also on the
move--even in my yard--were groups of Golden-cr Kinglets, the first I've
seen for a while. The mill pond held a BLUE-WINGED TEAL (almost certain)
among the 10-12 Cinnamons--teal regularly stop over here in the fall. And a
SOLITARY SANDPIPER working the muddy shore. This location is the Heernett
Foundation reserve accessed at the large wooden sign at the corner of SR507
& Churchill Rd just E of Tenino, birders and walkers welcome (despite the no
trespassing signs). 44 spp in a quick check of the neighborhood. Good
birding!
