today's mystery bird is a beautiful photograph of a bird in flight, courtesy of photographer Joseph Kennedy. this north american species might be a wee bit tricky to identify, but the gorgeous image alone makes it worth a look;

the most recently demystified mystery bird was an adult Wilson's Plover, Charadrius wilsonia, with a chick nestled into her feathers, also courtesy of the talented photographer, Joseph Kennedy.

this is such an appealing idea that other cities -- particularly large urban areas -- should also consider doing something like this to help their locals connect positively with the myriad wildlife that they do have.
