Hello,
I was down at the boat ramp at Pt. Defiance yesterday when a mature Bald Eagle swooped down on a gull about 30ft away. He started tearing at the gulls head and belly, ripping out feathers with alot of blood visible. This went one for about 2 minutes then the eagle all of a sudden flew off with the gull still alive. The gull then started to slowly swim towards the docks at the yacht club and sinking lower in the water. It tried to get out on one of their docks but gave up and died under the bow of the Tacoma Police boat. After a few minutes the body floated out and several gulls started circling and squawking. Then the eagle flew back over, the gulls left and didn't return.
