this week's edition of Birds in the News is now available for you to read. i want to draw your attention to one story in particular that desperately needs our collective attention: the proposed Queen Charlotte (British Columbia) wind farm, potentially located in one of the most "birdy" areas in the Pacific Northwest, that proposes to use the old-style three-bladed prop-style designs that are not only inefficient but infamous bird and bat killers;

the most recently demystified mystery bird was another african species, the Crowned Plover, Vanellus coronatus, with a chick nestled into her breast feathers (except its tiny pink legs), also thanks to photographer, Dan Logen;
