Hello everyone,
I have read Tweeters for quite a while and thought I would post something
for once.
My mom and I went over to the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery to see if we
could find some of the birds mentioned by Scott Ramos. We failed to see
pretty much all of them but I did see a GRAY CATBIRD on a log next to the
river just inside the trail gate. It was a life bird for me
(unfortunately, my mom missed it). We also saw 2 PACIFIC-SLOPE
FLYCATCHERS, 2 WESTERN WOOD-PEWEES, many juvenile CEDAR WAXWINGS, a
juvenile AMERICAN DIPPER, and a female WESTERN TANAGER that had us faked
out into thinking we were looking at some bizarre warbler. We also saw a
few vireos, but were not able to get good looks at them. We think they
were Warbling, but aren't sure. I would really like to Cassin's Vireo
this summer or next summer as I only have a year left at home before
going off to college on the East Coast. So if anyone has tips for finding
them, good locations, etc., I would really like to know. Thank you!
