Hi Tweets...it has been a few weeks since I last actively searched for the
eider in Ocean Shores. I have followed the posts from others hoping she will
stay another month at least.
I have a yellow lab which needs to get out and run around each day so my
beach time is usually shared with her, and today was no exception. The
difference was I took her to the stretch of beach just south of the Oyehut
Game Range, as the tide was high and waves rough on the outer beaches, and
Duck Lake has algae issues.

Our walk out to the end of the area where the creek cuts through was without
a sighting of the eider, but we had barely turned for the return trip when I
looked to my right and she was swimming along-side us, not more than 50 ft
off the shore! I have seen her do this before, as though she is keeping a
close eye on the dog. The light was just right to show the richness of the
reddish-gold (cognac?) colors on her side.
She is just beautiful.
