hello everyone,

today's mystery bird is relatively easy .. sort of. i have no doubt that all of you can figure out which genus this bird is in, and that you can even narrow it down to one of two possible species, but i am very curious to see if you can figure out which of those two species it is, and why;

the most recently demsytified mystery bird was a Carolina Chickadee, Poecile carolinensis, thanks to Joseph Kennedy. This bird generated some very interesting and educational commentary that you should read;

if i did not have to deal with copyright issues, i'd show you these two astonishingly cute baby birds as mystery birds (yes, I know getting the ID would drive you crazy; it drove me crazy when a reader sent those images to me!);
