For the past month or so we've also had a pair of Western Scrub-Jays
as irregular visitors to our peanut-wreath feeder in Ballard (NW 50th
at 8th NW), most recently again this morning (Aug 28.) Based on their
mottled-gray head coloration, both birds in our yard appear to be
juveniles, but their call is clear and easy to identify.

Also the first I've ever seen the species in Seattle, but these two
been coming around to the yard for long enough now to make me think
they're not just passing through in migration, but were probably
hatched somewhere in the area.
