Hi Everyone,

Kristi, Piper, and I took a little outing on Ediz Hook in Port Angeles
this morning. It wasn't primarily a birding outing (we didn't even
bring our field guide), but we did have the scope. Out near the end
of the hook, we observed a group of small sandpipers on the muddy sand
on the protected side of the hook, just across from the bathrooms. In
with the Leasts and Westerns, there was a slightly larger sandpiper
with yellowish green legs. It had a medium-length dark bill, which
was very slightly decurved. There was a whitish eyeline, and it had
faint streaking on the neck wiith a buffy wash across the upper
breast. There was red in the cap and some reddish on the scapulars
and back. We watched it for a while at fairly close range, but didn't
really realize what we were seeing until we came back and checked our
field guide.

Anyhow, if anyone is around Port Angeles today or tomorrow, you should
check it out!
