Hello Birders,

Whoops! Location, location..........

Took a run up along the Lummi Flats this a.m. found a modest fall-out of sorts along Red River Rd.: large concentrations of Robins, Cedar Waxwings, Bushtits, and mixed in were Warbling Vireos, Orange-crowned Warblers, Common Yellowthroats, a single Townsend's Warbler, many Savanah Sparrows, a single White-crowned Sparrow, Bewick's Wren, and others. The recent thread on Tweeters re: migration vs. dispersal had me speculating on which species were doing what. No conclusions.

Best find was an adult Prairie Falcon along the Ferndale Rd. just south of the treatment ponds and north of Ulrich Rd. It was out in recently harvested field with a large flock of Canada Geese....an odd situation. This is the first PRFA I've seen in Whatcom County in probably 10 years. I assume a migrator.

Cheers,
Joe Mackie
