5:25 PM, after running for a bottled drink, decided to check out the Wedding Rock grove before heading to the area the bird was seen earlier.? This is the area immediately west of the CUH building, filled with dense shrubbery bordering open (in this case short grass) area favored by ATFL.? Bird is VERY skulky, and I only got glimpses at first:
crest too bushy for a pewee or empid:? check
scalloped, off-white wingbars:? check
All-black bill far too large for any "regular" flycatcher here:? check
pale yellow wash on the belly:? finally, check.
Then, it emerged from deep within its spirea, and flew to the top of a twinberry.? Rufous primaries and undertail:? CHECK.
The bird was in the easternmost line of shrubs; the shrubs that border the serviceberry grove that extends behind the CUH.
Unfortunately, good flying weather tonight, so go if you can!
