Birded Maryhill St. Park (on the Columbia river in Klickitat county) today and had several nice birds. The biggest surprise of all was an immature male YELLOW WARBLER, a very unusual bird for December in Eastern Washington, though admittedly the Columbia is a little more mild than other areas. The bird was calling loudly in the rabbitbrush areas in front of the Park Ranger residence.

Other nice birds in this area were an adult White-throated Sparrow and 16! Hermit Thrush, mostly in groups of 1 and 2's, but seemingly everywhere for about 300 yards.

There was also a Pacific Loon in the waters below John Day Dam.
