I have a Yellow-Shafted Flicker coming to my suet. According to my Sibley guide, Its head,
however is more like a Red-Shafted female. It has more gray than brown, with a
gray face and brown crown, and no red nape. Has anyone else seen anything like
this? Are such crosses common?
