Hello Tweeters

Another Anna's tale

Yesterday I had a few errands to run. My first run was about 9 A.M., I opened the garage door, moved the car outside, did a couple of things, closed the garage door and left, total time about 5 minutes. Returned about an hour later, opened the garage door, parked the car and closed the door. As I was about to leave the second time, about 2 hours later, I noticed some movement in the garage. It was my resident Anna's female just sitting on one of the garage door rails. So I opened the other garage door closest to her and expected her to fly out. This is where the confsion comes into play. She couldn't grasp the concept of flying through the garage door openings to freedom. I tried to coax her out, but she just flew around in the 2 foot space above the opened doors! After 20 minutes of this I decided to hang my feeder on the on the garage door support rail which would hang below the door and give her a line of site exit. She immediately landed on the feeder and had a 5 minute lunch. She then flew around the garage and then back to the feeder for dessert. I started to think that she had found heaven and wasn't going to leave. Warm garage, plenty of food and no male Anna's harrassing her, like takes place everytime she tries to feed at the outdoor feeder. I was late for my appointment and decided to leave, I left the garage doors open for her exit, whenever she got around to it. I returned about an hour later and she was still there, she was perched on the feeder and I swear she was taking a nap! I gently picked up the feeder (her eyes were closed) and walked outside with it. Her eyes opened, an a startled Annas flew away. This is the same Annas that wasn't able to get airbourne this last spring after taking a drink at my fountain. When she tried to leave, she did a slow crash landing on my driveway. At the time I thought that she must be heavey with eggs and her drink of water put her overgross. She let me pick her up and move her to a shady area that was away from the activity that was taking place on the driveway.

Thanks
