Greetings,

I haven't posted to Tweeters in a long time, but definitely have not lost the birding bug.

This morning I was birding and taking photographs in the Skagit Flats area and spotted what I believe to be my first good view of a NORTHERN SHRIKE. It landed on a piece of driftwood across the very icy and frozen waterway about halfway out on the walkable section of the dike at the first pullout on the road to Conway/La Conner, the one with the nice large parking area and the large Eagle's nest and the nearly always present pair of Mature Bald Eagles.

A fun sighting for me today. :)

Pictures of my travels today are available at http://www.flickr.com/photos/18600129 at N05/sets/72157622978198408/. I don't have the necessary lenses yet for bird photography, so these are mostly just landscape shots. Still, it was a beautiful (if very chilly) day out on the Skagit.

Cheers to the birding community,
