Hello Tweeters,

Wednesday I went to see the Eurasian Widgeon at Titlow Beach, Tacoma. The
Eurasian was an easy find. While birding the bramble between the two ponds
along the railroad tracks I had great looks at a Hermit Thrush eating those
white Snow Berries. There were at least 2 dozen Pelagic Cormorants on the
pilings off the beach.

Later I went to Gog-le-hi-te on the Tacoma tide flats along the Puyallup
River. I had terrific observations/study of probably 200 Thayer?s Gulls.
Some were on the metal roofs of the blue and green buildings adjacent to the
park; others were in the wetlands of the park. During the day, someone
opens the gate out to the gravel road, and I use my car as a blind and
window mount for my scope to spend some good time to distinguish between the
different gulls. Predominantly Thayer?s Gulls on the tide flats, but also
mixed in are Glaucous Winged Gulls, Glaucous Winged x Western Hybrid Gull,
occasional Western Gull, Mew Gull, and occasional Ring-billed Gull.

Good Birding!

p.s. I?ve been out many times in my boat to bird the log booms along the
northeast shore of Commencement Bay/Marine View Drive over the past month.
I?ve not seen the Black-tailed Gull since November 7th.
