Hi Tweeters,

Yakima Valley Audubon members maintain two feeding stations in public
places, which we call sparrow patches. One is on the east side of
the Yakima Area Arboretum (which is mentioned on page 315 of "A
Birder's Guide to Washington) and the other is along the south end of
the Yakima Greenway Pathway at the 1/4 mile marker from the parking
lot at the east end of Valley Mall Blvd., which we call Sparrow Patch
South. To get there take Exit 36 off I-82 in Union Gap and turn east
to the parking lot. Follow the paved pathway out the east end of the
parking lot.

There is a Red Fox Sparrow visiting both of the sparrow patches. I
found one yesterday at the arboretum sparrow patch and John Hebert
found one today at Sparrow Patch South. The first record for Red Fox
Sparrow in Yakima County (at least that I know of) was one at Mike
Roper's feeder in Terrace Heights.

There were at least two Sooty Fox Sparrows at the arboretum sparrow
patch today, along with what possibly was a Slate-colored Fox Sparrow.

Photos of the Red Fox Sparrow at the Yakima Area Arboretum are in the
new photos folder on my website (the link is in the signature
line). There is also a photo of the possible Slate-colored Fox
Sparrow, which I am interested in getting comments on.
