This afternoon at Pt. Wilson I watched a small group of Stellar's Sea Lions (females or immature males) fishing around the Point about 50 to 100yds apart and coming together in a group and then splitting again. After a large splash and loud calls of 4 or 5 gulls I took a series of photographs without being sure what I was taking. Upon later review on my computer, one turned out to be a sea lion with a Glaucus-winged Gull in its mouth, only one wing showing. I don't know if it was swallowed or spit out. Does anyone know if this is usual behavior or just a juvenile that didn't know any better?
