Hi, all,

Just getting out is a good idea. After a MERLIN dashed past my window
at home (Capitol Hill), I saw a PEREGRINE on the I-5 ship canal bridge
(often reported, but seldom seen by me), and I had a RED-TAILED on a
light before getting off the freeway. Green Lake had at least three
male EURASIAN WIGEON in the flock, and HOODED MERGANSERS were perhaps
the most common diving duck, on a par with COMMON (close to the most
I've ever seen of Hooded, certainly at Green Lake). Surprisingly, there
were no _Aythya_ at all.
GULLS were only GLAUCOUS-WINGED (+), RING-BILLED, and a couple MEW. No
geese, but I did see both KINGLETS and a BALD EAGLE. Among the AMERICAN
COOTS, I did see one with a pale yellow callus above the bill (usually
some variation of dark brown).
