Subject: [Tweeters] Norhtern Shrike, Perigrine Falcon near Park on 116th,

Tweets,

Today I had some bird sightings I thought many of you would want to know
about...

At about 9 a.m., I parked at the 40-Acre (or is it 60-Acre?) Park parking
lot (by the soccer fields just off of 116th in Redmond) and took a brisk
walk northward on the Sammamish River Trail.

About 10-20 mins into my walk, I saw a NORTHERN SHRIKE perched at the very
top of one of the poplars along the east side of the trail. He was brilliant
with eastern light from the sun that had come up above the ridge.

After gawking at the shrike for a while, I continued north for another 20-25
mins and had to stop again, this time for a PEREGRINE FALCON perched in one
of the big trees on the western edge of the river.

Along the way, I also saw what I think would be officially classified as
several gazillions of CACKLING GEESE circling the fields; an adult BALD
EAGLE; and two RED-TAILED HAWKS, one of which was perched so close to the
trail that when he took off and gave a loud, classic Red-Tailed screech, I
startled.

I heard and then saw a DOWNY WOODPECKER in a bush at the side of the trail.
Last and smallest but not least, a brightly lit GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET
appeared in the same bush.

...All of this within an hour or so! Happy day!

Tweeters,

2 Trumpeter Swans and 1 Tundra Swan were feeding and resting at Juanita Bay
on Christmas Day afternoon. They are a wonderful sight.
