Subject: [Tweeters] late rail

Greetings, all,

I just missed a year bird this morning at Seattle's Montlake Fill: an
adult RED-TAILED HAWK had a freshly killed Virginia Rail near the main
loop trail in the wooded slough south of the horticulture buildings. The
frozen ponds probably forced the rail to change its routine, making it
more vulnerable. (I think someone had one for the C. B. C., or else
this could be one for count week.) I also saw at least six CANVASBACKs,
WESTERN MEADOWLARKs, LINCOLN'S SPARROWs, a MARSH WREN, YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERs, and some fun birders.

Cheers,

Alan Grenon
