In addition to the 'White-cheeked' Dark-eyed Junco that I posted a week or so ago, I've now got a 'Golden-crowned' American Goldfinch frequenting the back yard.? Today I shot a couple of images of the bird - not great ones, but they show the plumage abnormality.? Basically, this bird has a bright yellow 'cap', which really stands out versus the drab winter plumage.? It's almost like a male that has a yellow cap instead of the black one, although none of the birds are in breeding plumage, obviously - and the yellow cap extends further to the rear of the head than the normal black crown.?
