Hi Tweets,
On this Super Bowl Sunday I rose very early and headed north. I arrived in Blaine around 8:30 am and went directly to the fishing pier. Not much activity there. Various Gull species, Common Loon's, Common & Barrows Goldeneye's, Red-breasted Mergansers, Horned Grebes, Greater & Lesser Scaups, and rain. I then headed to Semiahmoo Spit to see what was cooking there. More rain. However there were numerous Pintails, Common & Pacific Loons, Ruddy Ducks, the Scaup family, Long Tail Ducks, Bald Eagles, Black Oystercatchers, Black Turnstones, and lots of LBJ's. One Cormorant species looked like a Red-faced Cormorant. I have photo's attached. If someone could verify the ID that would be GREAT.
I then headed to Skagit County through Edison. I spotted the Eurasian Green-winged Teal behind the Edison Bakery. On Fir Island at the end of Rawlins Road there were the usual Northern Harriers, Short-eared Owls and a surprise American Bittern.
I made it home for the second half of the game. My team did not win: However it was a winning day birding!!!
