SONGBIRD SURVEY

We have color-marked more than 500 crows, as well as many other songbirds in the area and would appreciate any sightings of these. Be on the lookout for banded robins, Wilson's Warblers, Swainson's Thrushes, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhees, Oregon Juncos, Winter and Bewick's wrens, and Pacific-slope Flycatchers. If possible, please record the color and location (top/bottom left leg, top/bottom right leg) of bands. Please report any sightings to Dr, John Marzluff <corvid at u.washington.edu>.

I suspect this bird is part of their surveys.

Subject: [Tweeters] Banded White-crowned Sparrow Montlake Fill

Hello, all:

Yesterday (4 Feb 09) I digiscoped a flock of White-crowned Sparrows at the Fill. Later, I discovered in the photos a sparrow with the following bandings:

Left leg, upper band of pink, lower band of dark blue. Right leg, upper metal band, lower light blue band. Very difficult to make out the numbers on the metal band; something like "N710".

I contacted the Columbia Basin Audubon Society via email, who have a website requesting info on banded WC Sparrows. I sent them some pictures, but they said that they did not band this particular bird. Does anyone have some idea who might have done the banding? I would like to get the info to them, if they are interested.

I have some pictures of the particular bird (although not great, you can see the bands).

Regards,

Bill Byers
