hello tweeties,

it is with great sadness that i inform you of the passing of an ornithological great: David Snow. i wrote a little bit about his life for you to read, and i am very happy to add other pieces of information and images of his life as they become available to me. further, i am sure that many of you actually knew him in real life (alas, i did not) and have many wonderful stories about him and his wife, barbara, to tell. if you wish to share these stories with my readers, i know they'd really appreciate reading all about it in your words;

the most recently demystified "weird" mystery bird, courtesy of photographer, Michael Butler, was a window-killed Varied Thrush, Ixoreus naevius. be sure to revisit that mystery bird for a link to more information and photographs of this bird;

i also want to apologize for mistyping the URL for yesterday's mystery bird, as several of you so kindly pointed out. remember, this is the bird that the photographer is having trouble IDing, partially because the best "fit" ID is for a species that is SEVERELY out-of-range, so your help is much appreciated. the correct URL is;

here is today's mystery bird, courtesy of photographer, Joseph Kennedy, for you to identify;
