In addition to the excellent comments on reporting colorbanded posted
so far, I'd just mention other color-banding projects currently
ongoing. Birder observations can contribute a great deal to
understanding how birds use our neighborhoods, parks and entire
region. When birding, I always check bird legs for bands, when
visible.

Color banding efforts for several songbird species around the Puget
Sound by Professor John Marzluff's lab were already mentioned.

Researchers in Prof Michael Beechers lab have banded Song Sparrows at
Discovery Park.

White-crowns were banded at the Fill and Carkeek Park for many years,
though Prof John Wingfield, from whose lab this work originated, has
moved to CA.

Puget Sound Bird Observatory has also begun a colorbanding project to
better understand how songbirds use the urban landscape in winter. To
