Birders,

For anyone interested, the adult SLATY-BACKED GULL is still being seen near
Abbotsford, BC. It was reported on Thursday, February 5th and again
yesterday, February 7th, and has been in the area at least since January
3rd.

The bird is usually seen on rooftops at or near the Abbotsford garbage
transfer station, which is located on Industrial Way, a dead-end street
which leads west from Riverside Road. (Riverside is a north-south road about
one-half mile west of and paralleling BC Highway 11 between Abbotsford and
Sumas, WA.) If not there, look for it in farm fields nearby along Highway 11
(Sumas Way). There are usually only a few hundred gulls in the area, so it
should not be too hard to find if it's there.

Good luck to anyone looking for the Slaty-back. I'll probably have a look
for it myself today.
