Kim Thorburn, Lindell Haggin, and I refound the Northern Hawk Owl today northwest of Mansfield along B NE near its intersection with 16 NE. We first found it on top of a utility pole and then it flew to a large deciduous tree on the west side of the road.

We also looked all over the same area for the reported Gyrfalcon with no luck. Also, we looked for the Snowy Owl that was seen on H NE this past week with no luck either. We did find several different color morphs of Rough-legged Hawk around. Ravens consistently had us stopping to check them out since they were the most common large bird around the area.

We also looked for White-winged Crossbills in the Mansfield Cemetery, Coulee City, Hartline, and at the Davenport Cemetery with no luck.

One of our other highlights of the day was a small flock of six American Tree Sparrows along O NE while we were driving south. Also, at this location were at least two Bohemian Waxwings.

Good birding!
