Thanks for the heads up regarding the Cinnamon Teal, Redheads and Canvasbacks. They were all still there yesterday around 1:00pm. The Cinnamon Teal was in the slough east of the boathouse by where the cormorants hang out to dry off. Without the help of a new acquaintance, Craig and his sweet spotting scope I would never have been able to spot the Canvasbacks and ultimately the Redhead, thanks Craig. These divers were across the channel, closer to 520. I decided to go for a closer look and soon found myself at the end of the trail just before it routes itself under the 520 bridge. By this time however the divers had moved east, out to deeper water and I had no better look than I did earlier. Just as I was about to leave 13 C-backs flew by, wheeled around and lighted no more than 100 yards away, cool. No Redheads with them. I decided to review my field guide to ensure I even new what I was looking for and as I did so another 50+ Canvasbacks (I quit
counting at 63 because they started diving) dropped in on top of the first batch. I found a single male Redhead in with them. There certainly may have been more but a bald eagle was harassing them which was fun to see but made it difficult to search for RHeads in the group.
