Lonnie Somers, Sherry and I went for the Northern Hawk Owl in Mansfield. We found the bird upon our arrival, on 'B' St. north of SR172 in a tree at the farm house on the right side of the road. Too easy or pure luck. We admired and photographed the bird and left the owl right where we found it. On the way back we birded along Wanapum Rd. and Huntzinger Rd. in Kittitas county. Here are our higlights of our trip.

7 Gray Partridges at Withrow
1 Northern Shrike at Withrow
4 Rough-legged Hawks along SR17 (between SR172 and Hwy 2)
lots of Horned Larks along Hwy 2 (betwenn SR17 and SR172)

1 Pygmy Owl at the corner of the east bound exit for Vantage and Wanapum Rd.
6 White Pelicans on the Columbia River south of the dam
2 Canvasbacks at Wanapum Lake
1 Loggerhead Shrike at the Wanapum Dam
