Subject: [Tweeters] Birding in Othello (WW Crossbills)

A small group went to Othello today in hopes of finding Tricolored
Blackbirds. The blackbirds had other ideas however. Either they left
every feedlot to go to breeding territories or something else was up. We
hardly saw a blackbird anywhere.

Randy Hill gave us great advice for other birding opportunities in the area
even with much of the water still frozen. We went to the Othello Cemetery
where we found 6 White-winged Crossbills. Although we heard what seemed to
be a Brown Creeper (rare in Othello), we were not able to get eyes on it and
there were Golden-crowned Kinglets present. Though I feel it is highly
likely that we did hear a Brown Creeper, the closeness in songs will leave
this one as only a possibility.
