I also saw a first or second-year Glaucous Gull in the Rufous Woods stretch
of the Columbia River -- on Sunday the 15th, about ten miles west of the
Colville Reservation headquarters. It was hanging around there most of the
day (as was I, as my husband fished for trout), with several California Gulls
and a couple Bonaparte's. Common and Barrow's Goldeneyes swam in large mixed
groups close to shore, along with a pair of Ring-Necked Ducks.

At the Chief Joseph Dam upriver from Bridgeport, the YELLOW-BILLED LOON was
an easy get (my group was late, so we only got it for Douglas Co). As we were
just about to leave, a first or second cycle GLAUCOUS GULL was cruising by,
lazily crossing the county line several times before landing somewhere in the
middle of Rufous Woods Lake. For access see Meredith Spencer's post from
