Wow, what a wonderful day to be out. The family and I made quick trip to
Nisqually and walked to McAllister Creek and back. The highlight was the
sighting of an AMERICAN BITTERN. What a fabulous bird. It was found by a
10 year old girl that happened by with her mother. Neither realized how
difficult it can be sometimes to spot this bird. Several other birders were
glad for the tip and lots of folks got to observe this bird for over half an
hour before it ducked behind some reeds.

We also saw an AMERICAN KESTREL in the distance that was confirmed by other
birders that were able to scope the bird. Nice sighting that was too.

The rest as follows:

Northern Pintail
Northern Shoveler
Mallard
Green Winged Teal
Bufflehead
Lesser Scaup
Hooded Merganser
American Coot
American Bittern
Double-crested Cormorant
Red-winged Blackbird
Belted Kingfisher
Canada Goose
Cackling Goose
Winter Wren
Song Sparrow
Golden-crowned Sparrow
American Robin
Marsh Wren
American Kestrel
Northern Harrier

Good birding, I hope the weather holds for one more day.
